EASIL
We view guest programming to include all that a guest gets to do once he or she has arrived at a place - the "total experience." This typically includes consideration of not only physical design issues, but operational matters, and integrated multimedia and showsystems, sponsorship programs, place-based live entertainment programming.
Maximizing the experiential value of EASIL items is also crucial achieving "total experience" in design. We use the term EASIL to short-hand the reference to all multi-media, building systems, and live event staging that can be orchestrated to great experiential effect - (Environmental Effects, Audio, Staging, Imaging, and Lighting).
Gathering Places
Facility developers are now savvy to the need for gathering places. We find that careful attention to guest programming and trip motivation is an excellent predictor of project success and a sound basis for experiential design efforts.
Show Architecture Theme parks, such projects as Universal Studios CityWalk, and Frank Gehry's recent public places, have established consumer acceptance of super-dense experiential environments - what we call "show architecture." In this busy, hyper competitive world, the curb appeal of a project is of great as a means of attracting and keeping customers - sometimes through use of multimedia Show Systems.
Big Ideas Great project typically flow from "big ideas" - consumer propositions so bold and so right, that the ensuing project can't help but be successful. Lessons learned from the are useful when seeking the "Big Idea" for a project.
