In the Middle of Our Season.

As always, it has been a whirlwind summer on boat shoots. When we come off the water, we go right into the studio for processing. So we thought we’d show you some finished work from our first 2011 mission.

This 3-day shoot took place at Lake of the Ozarks, MO in April. We focused on more than 20 Crestliner modified-V models, and also went into the factory in nearby Lebanon, MO to capture the craftsmanship that goes into these welded aluminum workhorses.

Once again, it was great working on this project with our friends at Six Speed, who always do such a great job of orchestrating every detail so we can concentrate on getting the shot. Or in this case, getting a total of 8,502 shots.

Marketing Student Lane Mimmack Earns Internship at Adventure™

Adventure™ recently added intern Lane Mimmack to their expanding staff. Lane is a senior at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he studies marketing. As a summer intern at Adventure, Lane has performed a wide array of on-the-job duties – assisting the traffic director, account executives, and Adventure Studios’ photographer John Linn. In addition to duties as Linn’s second assistant, Lane drives the Adventure Studios photo boat during boating shoots. 2011 marks his fourth year behind the wheel of the photo boat.

When not on shoots, Lane shadows different Adventure staff to experience the ins and outs of every aspect of the advertising business – from client meetings to internal strategy and creative meetings. Studio Lighting at 50 MPH, in 50 MPH Wind, from 50 Inches Away.

During a 3-day shoot for the Polaris Ranger RZR XP™ 900 product launch, Mother Nature was a mother. She blew high wind, raised dust storms and wreaked havoc on the photographic equipment. No problem for Adventure Studios, who pulled off the assignment with flying colors – as the fast, agile prototype vehicle flew through the California desert. The elements aside, the biggest challenge was capturing the RZR’s suspended essence with studio-style lighting at high speed. All while being critically reviewed in real time in the field by the production crew from Six-Speed and marketing managers from Polaris. Intense? Yeah. Worth it? Absolutely.

Photography That’s Razor Sharp.

Polaris had a big story to tell with the introduction of their new RZR4 – the revolutionary new four seat Razor UTV model. So the Adventure Studios’ photo team took on the task of capturing the images. With SixSpeed producing the shoot in one whirlwind day deep in the California desert, Adventure captured the essence of what the new vehicle is all about – nimble performance and seating for four. And being nimble was key throughout the shoot. We had to be in the midst of the action to capture images that spoke to the edgy advantages of the new RZR4. The resulting images get you in the midst of the action so you can almost taste the dust. (Actually, we still can.)

A GREAT Way to Give Back.

GREAT Summer Camp Photography

Great River Educational Arts Theatre (GREAT) is a non-profit community theater that provides the opportunity for area youth to act in and experience full-scale theatrical productions. In 2009, nearly 16,000 students from all over Central Minnesota attended one of GREAT’s school matinee performances. Since they give so much to the youth of our area, it was nice that Adventure could give a little back to GREAT. To help with the promotion of GREAT’s 2010 Summer Camps (attended by nearly 1,000 kids each year), Adventure photographed budding actors on the stage of the historic Paramount Theatre. Each photograph tells a story about the experience participants gain from camp in terms of confidence, self-expression, friendship, acting ability and a greater understanding of theatre.

A New Home for the Holidays.

Happy Holidays from the new offices of Adventure Studios! This past weekend, we moved over the river and through the woods to a completely renovated, century-old home on the banks of the Mississippi River. It’s beautiful, gives us room to grow and marks a new era for the studio. We’d love for you to stop by soon for a visit… just follow yonder star (and the directions on our website).

Our Sustainability Efforts Go Back 112 Years.

acg2-552x552

At Adventure Creative Group, we’re turning reuse into redevelopment. We’ve recently purchased the original Northern Pacific Hospital nurses quarters, designed in the late 1800′s by Reed & Stem. The same architectural firm that designed The Grand Central Station and Union Station in New York and many other notable American railroad building icons.

Our new Brainerd offices, bordering the west bank of the Mississippi, include the renovation of both the nurses home and a separate Northern Pacific engineers living quarters.

Both building exteriors are planned to be renovated and submitted for inclusion in the National Register of Historical Places. Interior design will provide a functional creative environment for our commercial photography services.

You could say we’re making history yet again.
